What I Learned From The Voice Acting Book

The book that I was reading,"the Art of Voice Acting" said that to sound believable for your performance you have to have variety, tension, and sincerity.

What is variety? Variety is making a motion, like if you want to sound confused or surprised, then sound like your confused or surprised.

What is tension? Tension is like when your like wondering what is going to happen and like when it's all mysterious like "then Bob opened the suit case to find..." some people might wonder what is going to happen next.

What is sincerity? Sincerity is that if you have to do a grandpa voice, then actually talk and sound like a grandpa, and if you have to talk and sound like a little girl, then talk and sound like a little girl.

I think the easiest for me is variety, and the one I think hardest for me is tension.

I read all of this in the chapter

Voice Acting Book I'm Reading

I am reading the book called "The At Of Voice Acting" by James Alburger. My dad is helping me read it.

The part of the book I read today talked about using a dialogue script so that for an ad or story, people can understand it more. The author gave this example: he had to do an ad for a toy company, Toy Smart. The conflict was about a woman who wanted her son to eat his vegetables, but the son wanted to have a big steak. And the son was actually the dad.

I read that in chapter seven called "The Character In The Copy."

How many hours of practice in one year?

Here is a picture of some math I have been working on.

This is what I wanted to know:

If l were to do voice acting for four hours every day except on Sundays for one year, how many hours would that be?

Well, there's 365 days in a year, right? Well if we divide 365 by 7 we would get the number 52. That is the number of Sundays in one year. Then we take 365 minus 52 Sundays and we get 313 days. That is 313 days of work.

Now if we quadruple the amount 313, we would get 1,252. So the answer is 1,252 hours of voice acting work.

If I only practiced for two hours, then it would 626 hours of voice acting practice.

If I only practiced for one hour, then it would just be 313 hours of voice acting practice.

I would like to probably do two hours a day first and then when once I get more organized, I will probably do four hours a day.
