Using Quotes for VO (11): I Am Old

I am sorry I wasn't able to do my recordings, so I'll make up to it by recording myself 10 times.

Here's 1/10:

"I am old Gandalf. I don't look it, but I'm beginning to feel it in my heart of hearts.

Well-preserved indeed!

Why, I feel all thin, sort of stretched, if you know what I mean: like butter that has been scraped over too much bread.

That can't be right. I need a change, or something."

Using Quotes for VO (10): One Ring To Rule Them All

Since I didn't have time to record myself yesterday (I was helping out with my mom's business) I am going to do an extra recording today. Here it is:

Here is the script:

“Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,

Seven for the Dwarf-lords in halls of stone,

Nine for Mortal Men, doomed to die,

One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,

One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them."

Using Quotes for VO (9): I Am Old

I have now started on another quote: "I Am Old" as I have called it. This is a quote from The Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of The Ring

Here's the recording:

If you want to see the scene in the movie here it is:

Here is the script:

“I am old, Gandalf. I don't look it, but I am beginning to feel it in my heart of hearts.

Well-preserved indeed!

Why, I feel all thin, sort of stretched, if you know what I mean: like butter that has been scraped over too much bread.

That can't be right.

I need a change, or something.”

My favorite part in this script is "why, I feel thin, sort of stretched, if you know what I mean: like butter that has been scraped over too much bread."

I liked to stretch out the sound of the word "stretch." I am also having trouble to sound sarcastic in the "well preserved indeed" part.

What I like about the clip in the movie is that the actor did good on sounding shaky, and as if he couldn't find the right words to say to Gandalf. You could tell because the actor (purposely of course) paused a lot)

Don't Eat Before VO

Today (the day this blog was published is the same day I wrote it) I was reading "The Art of Voice Acting" and I read about a part for what not to do right before starting your VO. It said to never do your VO right after you ate. It said that if you do then your voice will sound not as active and kinda slurpy (I'm not sure 'slurpy' is a word). the author said that he knew a voice actor who didn't eat anything from about between 9-7 hours before she did her VO. So there's a tip: don't eat at least an hour before you do your VO.

Using Quotes for VO (8): One Ring To Rule Them All

Well, it's already number 8! It sure doesn't seem like I started this about 8 days ago. I will also put the script on every time I make a blog post.

Here's the script:

“Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,

Seven for the Dwarf-lords in halls of stone,

Nine for Mortal Men, doomed to die,

One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,

One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them."
