I finally finished the podcasts! I finished it 2 days ago. What I have learned I told you in my previous blog post, Taking Out Background Sounds While Keeping The Main Background Air Sound. But I also found out about another thing in Audition: inserting a new voice.
Sounds pretty interesting, right? This option allows you to type in something you want it to say, then select a voice (there are only 5 voices for boys, and 7 for girls, the only problem is that they all sound like robots) and click save, then it will put in your recording saying, that is, what I did for a test, "my name is Simeon."
I chose "Junior" as the voice.
It's also really fun to play around with.
When I was editing a podcast about 2 days ago (one of the ones that I started for Mr. Lalvani last year ;vp ) I found out about, as the title of this post is named; taking out background sounds while keeping the main background air sound.
As you can see in this image the part that is selected is where a loud breath that I want to take out. but notice I didn't select the very bottom. That's because the bottom part is the regular low pitch background sound, and if there wasn't that breathing sound part you would see that there wouldn't be any purple above the low pitch.
Now you see in this image that the breathing part is gone, yet the tiny red line on the bottom is still there. I want to make sure it's there, that way it matches up with the other silences without breaths, if I take it away, it sounds like totaly quiet, so that one might think the recording is over.
I'm sorry, but I can't get a pic of Adobe Audition (I just found out I can't take a screenshot on this computer), so you can try and imagine it.
Today my dad got a text from one of his friends, Mr. Lalvani, who is also someone I had edited two podcast episodes from a few months ago.
Mr. Lalvani recorded the podcast episode then uploaded it to his personal Dropbox account. He then sent my dad a link to his dropbox through his Gmail (I don't have my own Gmail account yet).
The reason he couldn't send the podcast recording inside the email was because it takes up too much space. So now I'm going to go to dropbox and download it to our computer. I will then save a copy and open it with Adobe Audition (the program I use for my VO and editing). I then name it and edit it.
Once I'm done editing, I'll save it as an mp3. Then I'll upload it to my dad's dropbox account and then my dad will send the link to Mr. Lalvani, who can then download it for himself.
Also, whenever I finish a podcast, I always have "(FINISHED)" right before the title of the podcast, and whenever I don't finish a podcast and do it later, I always have "(EDITING (whatever time you were at when first editing)) so that I know where I was the first time.
As an example, earlier I was editing one of the podcasts for Mr. Lalvani, and I stopped and then put (EDITING 8:08), the spot I was at, 8 minutes and 8 seconds.
Look what I found in Files! A before and after clip that I did on a podcast a few months ago. Can you hear the "blip" in the first part of the recording? I edited it out, but kept an extra recording with the bad sound (the bad part you can't really hear, so you may need to put on headphones or earbuds).
