Trouble With Mike

I've been having trouble with my microphone (I thought "Mike" could be catchy instead of "my mic" 😜), where it keeps disconnecting. I've had this issue before, but that was a few months ago. I didn't have to solve the problem, because it just started working again. Since I use an XLR cabled microphone, I have an interface, a box that works as a converter to my computer and has things like volume and gain control. When the issue came up again, I thought it might be the interface, so I ordered a new one, which cost $50. Well, unfortunately, it turns out it wasn't the interface, but I do know it's something wrong with the computer or microphone. I do have a 10-year warranty for the mic, so if it turns out that it's the problem, then I can always send it back and get a new one.

My First Pro Gig

Last week I finally made a step I'd been waiting for; I signed up to be a pro voice actor on Fiverr! If you're not familiar with Fiverr, it's a site where you can hire professionals to do stuff like art, voice acting, photography, etc.

I've had my eye on it for a while because it pays pretty well compared to Casting Call Club (which is a great site to get started in voice-over), and there are not very many good child actors on there.

I then made a video of me recording with my demo and put up a few other demos and past recordings I've done.

Yesterday, a man contacted me and wanted to hire me as a short character for a video game he's making. I'm very excited for my first pro gig! I sent him a test recording so he can hear my voice. I'm waiting for his response.

The whole project will cost him around $30 with 34 words in the script, and other things like commercial rights.

If you want to check out my gig, here's the link (unfortunately it changed the audio quality in the demo).

Cast for "Slightly"

If you read the blog post right before this one, then you'll know that I auditioned for the character "Slightly" in a Peter Pan Dub. Well, an hour later, after I auditioned, they cast me! That was the fastest I had ever been auditioned. I sent him a friend invite on Discord, and am now awaiting his response.
